Adventures in Soul Collage(R)

There are many advantages to getting older. Among them are the time, freedom and energy to do things you have always wanted to do. For me, one of those things has been Soul Collage (R).

soul collage

Soul Collage(R) is a way of interacting with images to explore the wisdom that is within you. Images are powerful. Have you experienced images that just seem to “speak to you”? Those images are the ones to look for!

The practice was birthed by Seena Frost about 25 years ago. I have the good fortune to live near a community of Franciscan religious who offer classes and workshops in the spiritual journey.

This workshop will last for 5 sessions, one per month. The exercise today was to look for answers to the question, “I am the one who _____”

A group of 20 or so of us spent an hour and a half scouring magazines and other image sources and gluing them onto 5 x 7 cards. We met at the end to share some of the ways the images resonated with us.

For my first card, my journal entry, based on the image, reads, “I am the one who is always looking up. Sometimes I see lovely ceilings, but they block my gaze to even greater beauty beyond.’

Looking up, soul collage
Another card was about being spirited. My journal entry for that says, “I am the one who has a lively spirit coursing through my life. I have had to walk through many doors to finally express it, but now it is flowing fully through my life.”

My final card for the afternoon was about changes. I wrote, “Everything in life is moving and changing, but each change has beauty of its own. The ice melts to the rushing river, which waters the tender blooms. I am the one who accepts the changes and delights in each manifestation.”

Soul collage, changes

So, there you have it.

Care to do an armchair analysis of my psyche? Hey, I am an aging woman who is finally taking the time to explore and enjoy and have some fun with life.

What are YOU doing?

Hi, I’m Christine

Have you been a wholehearted mother, but time, toddlers and teenagers have moved on? If you are wondering what comes next for you, you’ll feel right at home here.

Or, are you a mom for whom family life has been non-Pinworthy and parenting has been downright painful? I hear ya. There are many of us around.

Are you looking for a life full of exploration and adventure after the nest empties, but maybe you have no idea how to go about doing that? Stick around! We’ll explore adventures together to help you gain more clarity for your own path.

After a couple decades of writing books and articles about parenting, homeschooling and adoption, speaking to homeschoolers and other parent groups, and reaching out to the mom in the trenches who was trying to make the best of it - my kids grew up. Some grew up and grew away. I was determined to find a way out of the pain, emptiness and lack of direction.

For many of us, the journey starts with something we moms are not accustomed to. After years of caring for and serving others, sometimes we forget the beauty and wonder of US. We need to spend some time getting to know the parts of ourselves that have lain dormant, and take the time to explore interests and passions that we set aside.

I’d like to invite you to get the “What’s Next for Mom” workbook and jump into this growing tribe of Moms who are emptying the nest and filling the life! Let’s reignite your Mojo after Mothering!
