Top Tips for Styling Your Hallway

August 26, 2024 By Christine Field

The hallway is one of the most underrated areas of the home because people use it all the time. A high traffic area such as a hallway is ignored because people don’t really see it when they walk through it. They’re just using it as a way to get from the front door to the living room or the bedroom to the kitchen. You might brush past that narrow space on your way to somewhere more important, but it’s still a space that you should really think about utilizing where you can.

With a little time, attention and decoration, it becomes a star feature of your home. You want to make an entrance with your hallway because it is the entrance to the rest of your home and it describes exactly what energy you give off. When you look after your hallway, you’re going to end up impressing even the smallest of guests who come into your home. So let’s take a look at some top tips for styling it.

  1. Do some planning. You have to consider the dimensions of your hallway before you really start decorating. Companies such as Restofair RAK have furniture for every space, including your hallway, but you need to start planning first. What furniture can you fit?You wouldn’t want to buy a console table only to find that you don’t have enough space to walk around it. You have to be really clever about the way that you start your hallway and furniture is always a good place to begin, but you have to know the dimensions first.
  2. Play with the depth that you have. If you have a narrow hallway, you should always focus on the floor or the ceiling so that you can draw the eye from the front entryway into the home itself. The correct floor pattern and the correct coloring can really help to bring the eye through the space. The success of a great hallway always lies in wonderful colors; you don’t want it to be too harmonious along the way.
  3. Keep it simple. If you have a small space for your hallway, you don’t want to crowd it with checkered floors and bold coloured walls. You need to be cohesive. It’s a transitional space, so you need to keep it neutral if you can and add focal points of interest such as flowers, pictures or textures runners. You need to keep your area interesting as much as you can without distracting from the rest of the style of the home. A bright light and airy hallway gives people that immediate feeling of being welcome and warm when they come into your home.
  4. Play with the decor that you choose. Mirrors, artwork, table lamps, wall sconces, all of these are very common items that work best in hallways because of the fact that you’re working with such a small space. You need to have aesthetically pleasing pieces that serve a proper purpose. Mirrors, for example, serve to bounce light and make it appear larger than it really is. A glass feature can give your hallway that vintage inspired look that you could be looking for.

Playing with decor does the job – so make your entrance the entrance.

Hi! I’m Christine!

It’s Never Too Late to Rewrite Your Story

If you’re standing at a crossroads—wondering where the “you” you used to know went—you are not alone.

Maybe you spent years pouring yourself into your family, homeschooling, raising kids with big needs and even bigger hearts.
Maybe you’re navigating a broken marriage, facing an empty nest that feels a lot emptier than you ever imagined, or grieving distance from your adult children.

You may be asking yourself: What happened to the life I dreamed of?
What happens now?

Here’s the truth:
It’s never too late to rewrite your story.

No matter the detours or disappointments, there is still hope.
There are still beautiful chapters ahead, waiting for you to write them.

  • A reminder that your story isn’t over—and the next part might just be the best yet

My Story

Hi, I’m Christine—a marriage and motherhood survivor, a recovering perfectionist, and a woman determined to live the second half of life with purpose, passion, and a whole lot of pizzazz.

I spent decades doing what many women do: pouring myself into my family, raising children (some with big needs and even bigger hearts), homeschooling, navigating a long and complicated marriage, and trying to be everything for everyone. Somewhere in all of that, I lost parts of myself I didn’t even realize were gone.

During those intense years of deep mothering, I also wrote seven books for major Christian publishers about parenting, adoption, and homeschooling. I spoke at conferences, encouraged other moms, and tried to offer wisdom from the trenches.

And then—everything I held dear was challenged.

My kids started struggling in ways I couldn’t fix.
My marriage unraveled.
And so did the life I had so carefully built.

Divorce, the empty nest, the ache of adult children who didn’t launch quite the way I’d hoped—it all collided at once.

Sound familiar?

But here’s the good news:
It’s never too late to rewrite your story.

Now in my late 60s, I’m building a rich, meaningful life—not despite the hard chapters, but because of them.
I started dating again (and got married in May 2025!), I’m working full-time in my career as a criminal lawyer, and I’m dreaming bigger than ever.
I’m a woman of faith who’s walked through the fire—and found new life on the other side.

Let’s Walk This Road Together

If you’re wondering what’s next after the life you planned didn’t turn out the way you hoped, you’re in the right place.
We don’t have to shrink or settle.
We get to rise, reclaim, and sparkle.

So pour a cup of coffee (or something stronger), and let’s keep going, together.
