Spruce up your Home with these Hacks

Spread the love

We spend most of our lives at home. It is where you raise your children, and it is where all your loving relationships blossom. A home is an extension of ourselves, so what does your home say about you? Is it in the state you want it to be in? What do you like about it? What do you love? It makes sense for each of us to have our home the exact way we want as it promotes a healthy mind. So, we have come up with a few home improvement techniques to help you make that house to feel more like the home you want to live in, and not all have to break the bank.

Sandpaper and paint

Do you have any tired and shabby looking furniture? Perhaps there is an old wardrobe in the bedroom that has seen better days. Well instead of forking out for a brand new item of furniture, why don’t you sand it down and paint it up. A lick of paint can make a world of difference, giving it that new feel without costing a fortune.

Fireplace

Do you have a chimney breast and a space where a fireplace used to be, but no fire and are fed up with looking at the hole in the wall? Or maybe you want to try something more eco-friendly. Well, perhaps you could think about having a wood-burning stove installed. This is something that is quite on-trend at the moment, and they are popular among the eco crowd. A wood-burning stove makes a nice addition to a living room, and it becomes a focal point, taking your eyes away from the television.

Water system

Have you ever thought about having a filtration system installed to your drinking water? Having one could save you money if you are one for purchasing bottled water. Also, does your water system suffer from poor pressure, it may be worth you while investing in domestic water booster pumps, and then those slow showers will be a thing of the past.

Brighten your rooms

The best way to brighten up your home is to paint the walls with a nice bright color. A light color can make the rooms appear larger, and if you strategically place mirrors on the walls this will add to the effect. As mentioned above, you could also paint your furniture a bright color for the same reason. Also, it may be an idea to invest in some new lampshades, especially if your current ones are a little on the dark side. A new lighter lampshade will allow more light into the room and may make the room seem new again.

Designate space for your nicknacks

Most people have their passions dotted around all over the house, in no particular order. Well, to save you the trouble of constantly looking for something, it may be an idea to create a corner for these things. You could cover it with a curtain and hide all your favorite things out of the way.

Hi, I’m Christine

Have you been a wholehearted mother, but time, toddlers and teenagers have moved on? If you are wondering what comes next for you, you’ll feel right at home here.

Or, are you a mom for whom family life has been non-Pinworthy and parenting has been downright painful? I hear ya. There are many of us around.

Are you looking for a life full of exploration and adventure after the nest empties, but maybe you have no idea how to go about doing that? Stick around! We’ll explore adventures together to help you gain more clarity for your own path.

After a couple decades of writing books and articles about parenting, homeschooling and adoption, speaking to homeschoolers and other parent groups, and reaching out to the mom in the trenches who was trying to make the best of it - my kids grew up. Some grew up and grew away. I was determined to find a way out of the pain, emptiness and lack of direction.

For many of us, the journey starts with something we moms are not accustomed to. After years of caring for and serving others, sometimes we forget the beauty and wonder of US. We need to spend some time getting to know the parts of ourselves that have lain dormant, and take the time to explore interests and passions that we set aside.

I’d like to invite you to get the “What’s Next for Mom” workbook and jump into this growing tribe of Moms who are emptying the nest and filling the life! Let’s reignite your Mojo after Mothering!
