There are so many awesome ways to practice self-care. Eating well, exercising, journaling, and making sure you get enough sleep are all great ways to prioritize your health. Practicing self-discovery is another great way to take care of your own personal well-being. This lesser known practice, is a technique that can help you to discover more about yourself, such as how you think, make decisions, and different experiences and people make you feel. Through this self-awareness technique, you can expect to feel more empowered and in touch with yourself.

Below you’ll discover more about the benefits of practicing self-discovery and printable questions you can use to guide your practice.

Benefits of practicing self-discovery

An ideal way to practice self-discovery is by asking yourself and recording your answers to a set of predetermined questions. You’ll find a printable you can download with self-discovery questions to get started, but first here are several of the main benefits of engaging in this self-care activity.

  1. Foster growth: You can develop a stronger sense of yourself and grow into the best version of yourself.

  2. Increase emotional intelligence: You can become more aware of the way you feel about certain environments and people, as well as how best to communicate your feelings, by building self-awareness.

  3. Understand your strengths and weaknesses: You can recognize both what you’re great at and what areas you’d like to improve in.

  4. Boost confidence: You can feel more confident in your ability to make sound decisions and see yourself as a strong, capable person.

  5. Improve relationships: You can enhance the way you communicate with others so  that it is effective and meaningful.

Self-Discovery Questions

Taking some time out of your busy day to sit down and be intentional about reflecting on yourself and your life, can help you meet and achieve your goals. Self-discovery can aid you in moving forward enthusiastically and confidently. Remember, although personal growth might be a goal of yours, that is never to say that you’re not enough as you are.

Hi, I’m Christine

Have you been a wholehearted mother, but time, toddlers and teenagers have moved on? If you are wondering what comes next for you, you’ll feel right at home here.

Or, are you a mom for whom family life has been non-Pinworthy and parenting has been downright painful? I hear ya. There are many of us around.

Are you looking for a life full of exploration and adventure after the nest empties, but maybe you have no idea how to go about doing that? Stick around! We’ll explore adventures together to help you gain more clarity for your own path.

After a couple decades of writing books and articles about parenting, homeschooling and adoption, speaking to homeschoolers and other parent groups, and reaching out to the mom in the trenches who was trying to make the best of it - my kids grew up. Some grew up and grew away. I was determined to find a way out of the pain, emptiness and lack of direction.

For many of us, the journey starts with something we moms are not accustomed to. After years of caring for and serving others, sometimes we forget the beauty and wonder of US. We need to spend some time getting to know the parts of ourselves that have lain dormant, and take the time to explore interests and passions that we set aside.

I’d like to invite you to get the “What’s Next for Mom” workbook and jump into this growing tribe of Moms who are emptying the nest and filling the life! Let’s reignite your Mojo after Mothering!
