Maybe it’s because I’m a lawyer, but I’m kind of a linear person. Funny. Linear, but spacey.
I think in words, I talk in words, I write in words, I dream in words.
Sometimes they can get stale. Then I take a walk, take out my tin whistle and play a few Irish tunes or pet a cat.
I’m doing something drastic this year to keep my creative juices flowing.
I’ve been intrigued by art journals for a long time. I don’t draw, so the idea of doing something artistic that did not require drawing skills was very appealing. I’ve been playing a little and reading magazines like Pages, Artful Blogging, and Cloth, Paper, Scissors.
This year I took the plunge and signed up for a year-long Life Book class. Yikes! http://www.willowing.org/
I find that when I do something out-of-my-box creative, it helps my writing. This is so far out of the box for me that it’s a foreign land.
Someday I want to learn to dance too.
Of course, in the first assignment you have to choose a word for the year. Mine is gratitude.
I don’t ever want to lose the gift of giving thanks in all circumstances – the gift of faith.
Got a word for the year?
What will you try that’s out of your comfort zone?
