As the weather begins to get chillier, throwing a light jacket over your summertime wardrobe just isn’t practical. Here’s how to transition your wardrobe from summer to fall.
Switch Your Color Palette
This is perhaps one of the easiest fixes and one that will have the most impact on your aesthetic. Changing from bright summer tones to a muted color palette will have you fitting right in at all the fall events.
Look for earthy tones like creams, beiges, and browns. Choose warm tones for pops of color, including oranges, reds, and yellows. Also, you can add muted colors like black or shades of gray. Deep jewel tones, such as pine green or navy blue, can also look great paired with neutral pieces.
Add Cozy Fabrics and Layering Pieces
Fall is the best time to wear all your cozy clothes. It’s also a great time to go thrifting if you don’t have enough warm pieces. Many thrift stores have plenty of great options.
Snuggly sweaters and thermal shirts are essentials. Depending on your style, you may want to incorporate vintage jackets or cardigans. Tights and leggings are also great options for adding warmth under a dress or skirt.
Prep Your Footwear
This is especially important if you live somewhere with snow or bad weather. Choose boots that do well at keeping warmth in and water out. Be sure to waterproof any leather goods. It’s essential to prepare your boots for colder weather.
Ideally, you should add a few boot options to your closet. You may want to have at least one pair of black boots and one pair of brown boots so that you always have something to wear regardless of the color palette you’re wearing on a particular day.
And don’t forget to stock up on warm socks to keep your feet comfortable in your boots!
Transitioning your wardrobe from summer to fall doesn’t have to be a hassle. Just think of it as an opportunity to try out new colors and layering options!
