Living in the digital age has many perks. From being able to keep up with our favorite celebrities via Instagram to offering virtual learning opportunities to help expand our minds, we use technology every day. Nevertheless, with corona virus cases still rising many of us are relying on digital tools now more than ever.

Here are some tips on how to use technology to help maintain your health during COVID-19.

Start With Your Doctor Appointments

Caring for your overall health starts by keeping up with your health. Although you might have concerns about visiting your primary care doctor or receiving any medical care during COVID-19, it’s vital to stay up to date with any health concerns or preexisting health conditions you might have to ensure you stay healthy and safe. Many doctors’ offices are now taking precautions to reduce the risk of spreading corona virus. If you’re worried about making your routine check-up appointments and do not feel safe going to a doctor’s office, then explore the options that telemedicine has to offer.

Telemedicine allows health care professionals to evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients through digital platforms, all while in the comfort of your own home. There’s a variety of medical conditions that telemedicine services can assist with. If you struggle with skin inflammation, telemedicine can help connect with you with a dermatologist that will create a helpful routine to manage your skin. Many people are now turning to telemedicine as a more accessible and convenient way to visit a doctor and seek professional medical help.

Focus On You

This is a very challenging time for many but it shouldn’t stop you from doing things you love or enjoy. Although you should remain inside and protected, there are many opportunities for you to do the things you cherish virtually. There are many online classes that center around cooking or painting that can help improve your skills and give you some well deserved time for yourself.

You can also use this time to indulge in your self-care routine. Whether you’re feeling more anxious than normal or want to improve your overall appearance to help you feel more confident, there are many online tools and resources that can help you feel your best. A meditation app can support mindfulness and relaxation if you’re feeling trapped at home. Or if you want to focus on an appearance-based insecurity during your time at home, such as hair loss or thinning, you can purchase a topical solution medication like minoxidil that can help boost your self-confidence. Invest in yourself and the things you enjoy to have a more productive and positive attitude.

Create Healthier Eating Habits

Supporting your mental and physical health starts with what you’re putting into your body, and if you have spent the majority of your quarantine stuffing your face with junk food, you might want to take a step back. The human brain associates boredom and stress with eating, and although you might not be hungry, your brain is craving sugary and salty foods which can take a negative toll on your eating habits.

If you’re struggling to stay healthy and feel nervous to visit the supermarket because of COVID-19 related anxieties, consider alternative grocery services. Refrain from ordering out and instead invest in a weekly meal delivery service Home Chef, to ensure you will have everything you need to cook a healthy and delicious meal for your family. Meal delivery services offer an array of tasty options that you can pick and choose from, while also catering to any health restrictions. It can also help take the stress away from meal prepping, and spark some creativity in the food department.

Don’t Become A Couch Potato

If you’re working from home or staying at home for the majority of your day then exercise is essential for not only your physical health but also your mental well-being. Although it’s tempting to skip your daily workout to relax on the couch and binge your favorite reality TV shows, you can be doing your body a huge disservice by not prioritizing your physical health. Due to COVID-19 and social distancing guidelines, attending your local gym is out of the question in some areas but that doesn’t mean you can’t utilize your home or backyard as your personal gym.

There are many fitness apps that help track your deal motion and synchronize with your health data to help stay on top of your health and improve your daily activity. You can also utilize platforms like YouTube that can help you achieve your desired goals without using the gym! Don’t worry about not having any workout equipment as there are workout videos that do not require equipment. However, tools like resistance bands can enhance your workout. Remember, when your body feels good then so will your mind. Get yourself motivated to prioritize your health.

Virtually Reach Out

When was the last time you connected with your friends and family? You might have lost touch with your loved ones due to personal reasons or simply because life happens. This is the perfect time to get reconnected with the people that matter most in your life. Reuniting with friends and family can boost your mental health, as well as brighten up someone’s day! Since we are still in a pandemic you should abide by social distancing rules, which is why video conferencing applications like Zoom or Google Hangouts are great for virtual family gatherings or a virtual hang out with friends!

As many people are struggling to adjust to the high emotions that come with a pandemic, extending a warm hello can help ease anxiety for yourself and others. Suggest a virtual happy hour after work or after the kids go to bed to pour yourself a cup of wine and have a couple of laughs! Healthy relationships promote support and have a positive effect on your overall life.

During the pandemic it is natural to find yourself on your phone or computer more than usual, however, you should always take the time to break away from your screens and get outside. Remember to take the time to do your favorite things with your family or just yourself!

Hi, I’m Christine

Have you been a wholehearted mother, but time, toddlers and teenagers have moved on? If you are wondering what comes next for you, you’ll feel right at home here.

Or, are you a mom for whom family life has been non-Pinworthy and parenting has been downright painful? I hear ya. There are many of us around.

Are you looking for a life full of exploration and adventure after the nest empties, but maybe you have no idea how to go about doing that? Stick around! We’ll explore adventures together to help you gain more clarity for your own path.

After a couple decades of writing books and articles about parenting, homeschooling and adoption, speaking to homeschoolers and other parent groups, and reaching out to the mom in the trenches who was trying to make the best of it - my kids grew up. Some grew up and grew away. I was determined to find a way out of the pain, emptiness and lack of direction.

For many of us, the journey starts with something we moms are not accustomed to. After years of caring for and serving others, sometimes we forget the beauty and wonder of US. We need to spend some time getting to know the parts of ourselves that have lain dormant, and take the time to explore interests and passions that we set aside.

I’d like to invite you to get the “What’s Next for Mom” workbook and jump into this growing tribe of Moms who are emptying the nest and filling the life! Let’s reignite your Mojo after Mothering!
