Christian parents, are you worried your kids aren’t following God?
Probably like you, we raised our kids in church. We homeschooled them because we wanted their education to be infused with their faith instead of in opposition to it. Christian curriculum, Awana, Sunday school, youth group, Bible study and devotionals were all part of family life.
Yet they grow, they question, they may fall away.
Did you do the same?
I was raised in the Catholic Church. We were hard core. Regular attenders, Catholic schools, praying the rosary as a family, and being involved in church activities were all part of family life.
Yet I fell away.
For me, it took a real falling down after falling away to hear the voice of God beckoning to His beloved. In my stubborn sinfulness, I had to come to the end of myself to be reborn as a child of God.
I can TALK and TELL someone that a life without God makes no sense.
I can PREACH and POSTURE about how to live a life devoted to God.
But I taught my kids to think, as I suspect you did too. They are thinking through where they will land spiritually.
When they land, they will own it. It will be theirs, not just the faith they grew up with.
My responsibility is to live strong in my faith and continue to pray for them.
I have faith that the same God who relentlessly pursued me continues to pursue them.
Because He continues to pursue His beloved.
You. Me. Our kids. The world.
