Winter feet are dreadful! Although they are hidden in our boots and outdoor wear, we still want fabulous feet and need serious foot care, especially in the cold weather.
I came across this article about foot care after fifty and want to share some of the best tips here.
Yes, it’s difficult to admit that I have a podiatrist added to my list of medical practitioners. He is fabulous! Yes, I have orthotic inserts for my shoes but I HAVE NO FOOT PAIN. I can walk for hours with no discomfort. Because I have many more miles to walk in my life, I take good care of these puppies!
Things that will help with foot care
First of all, I love my Amope! It’s kind of like a sander for your feet. Use it on dry feet and let the little sanding roller scrape away all the dry skin on your heels and balls of your feet. They will feel fabulous!
After you have sanded your feet, apply some good moisture cream. I have tried several kinds of foot cream, including extra special fancy ones that I’ve gotten as gifts. Of the ones below, Aquaphor is my favorite. It’s good for tough jobs!
You need some good nail care items as well. I only recently tried electronic nail systems and I am a believer! You want one that has a nice variety of attachments for filing and buffing. As I get older, my nails are more brittle and ridgy. I keep them short and buffed and I’m happy with that.
As long as we’re being real here, here’s another true confession – I sleep with socks on in the winter. Keeps me warm and cozy AND serves to help moisturize my feet. You don’t need fancy socks, you can use regular ones, but these are special ones that you might enjoy.
Winter skin care is important. Take good care of those feet now and in the spring, when they are ready to see the light of day again, you will have less remediation work to do!
