Elevating Everyday Fashion: The Power of a Single Accessory

If the modern world is built around one concept, it would probably be “speed”. In the 2020s, and for years now, the whole idea of doing things and getting things in a hurry has become paramount. This has led to a certain loss of uniqueness, and everything from our food to our entertainment has become about getting it now rather than making it special. And sometimes it feels like – with the rise of fast fashion – our outfits have lost that special feeling too. But what if we were to say that something fast can become something special with the addition of a single touch?

How accessories transform an outfit

Accessories are in many ways the unsung heroes of the fashion world. While the attention will go to the mainstays, it’s undeniable that a well-chosen scarf can bring the needed splash of color to a monochrome ensemble, the right belt can redefine a dress entirely, and a handbag can deliver character. It is arguable, however, that one form of accessory stands above all others in the refinement that it can add to an outfit; the perfect piece of jewelery.

The first and most important rule of accessories

Less is most definitely more when it comes to accessorizing an outfit. While it’s easy to get drawn to multiple pieces, the important thing about choosing accessories is to narrow down the field. One piece of jewelery can turn even a T-shirt and jeans into something irrepressibly chic or round off a work outfit. Any more than that, and it begins to look as though you fell into Scrooge McDuck’s vault and forgot to brush yourself off. Pick one, pick well, and you’re (sometimes literally) golden.

Diamonds: The ultimate accessory?

A well-chosen piece of diamond jewelery might just be the most powerful accessory in any rotation. Diamonds are versatile, they are timeless: they’ll go with a little black dress, a simple top and pants, whatever you choose. Whatever you choose to wear, it will pop that much more when adorned with premium round cut diamonds, and even placing it differently can mean you change a look with dynamic brilliance. Choosing your accessories well can mean that any outfit feels like it’s been put together with expertise.

Practical tips for wearing diamonds

Diamonds bring something extra to an outfit, but that doesn’t mean any diamond accessory will work equally well at any time. Consider the following rules for how to choose your accessories for maximum effect.

  • Choose subtlety: Large, ostentatious pieces draw the eye until they’re all anyone sees. Instead of picking the statement piece, go for something more subtle yet stylish – a pendant or a pair of stud earrings is often best.
  • Mix and match: A piece where several diamonds surround a sapphire or emerald can look stunning. Also, have a range of base metals in your jewelery box: rose gold, silver and classic old gold all work well with different shades.
  • Care for your jewelery: If you regularly polish your jewelery and store it carefully, it will last for decades, and you’ll get to see just how timeless diamonds can be.

Fashion is about self-expression, and sometimes it’s the little details that tell the biggest story. When you want to feel confident in an outfit, remember just how big a difference the right accessory can make.

Hi! I’m Christine!

It’s Never Too Late to Rewrite Your Story

If you’re standing at a crossroads—wondering where the “you” you used to know went—you are not alone.

Maybe you spent years pouring yourself into your family, homeschooling, raising kids with big needs and even bigger hearts.
Maybe you’re navigating a broken marriage, facing an empty nest that feels a lot emptier than you ever imagined, or grieving distance from your adult children.

You may be asking yourself: What happened to the life I dreamed of?
What happens now?

Here’s the truth:
It’s never too late to rewrite your story.

No matter the detours or disappointments, there is still hope.
There are still beautiful chapters ahead, waiting for you to write them.

My Story

Hi, I’m Christine—a marriage and motherhood survivor, a recovering perfectionist, and a woman determined to live the second half of life with purpose, passion, and a whole lot of pizzazz.

I spent decades doing what many women do: pouring myself into my family, raising children (some with big needs and even bigger hearts), homeschooling, navigating a long and complicated marriage, and trying to be everything for everyone. Somewhere in all of that, I lost parts of myself I didn’t even realize were gone.

During those intense years of deep mothering, I also wrote seven books for major Christian publishers about parenting, adoption, and homeschooling. I spoke at conferences, encouraged other moms, and tried to offer wisdom from the trenches.

And then—everything I held dear was challenged.

My kids started struggling in ways I couldn’t fix.
My marriage unraveled.
And so did the life I had so carefully built.

Divorce, the empty nest, the ache of adult children who didn’t launch quite the way I’d hoped—it all collided at once.

Sound familiar?

But here’s the good news:
It’s never too late to rewrite your story.

Now in my late 60s, I’m building a rich, meaningful life—not despite the hard chapters, but because of them.
I started dating again (and got married in May 2025!), I’m working full-time in my career as a criminal lawyer, and I’m dreaming bigger than ever.
I’m a woman of faith who’s walked through the fire—and found new life on the other side.

Let’s Walk This Road Together

If you’re wondering what’s next after the life you planned didn’t turn out the way you hoped, you’re in the right place.
We don’t have to shrink or settle.
We get to rise, reclaim, and sparkle.

So pour a cup of coffee (or something stronger), and let’s keep going, together.
