Easy Fall DIY Decor

The brilliance of fall in the midwest can be breathtaking! It is perhaps my favorite season and I love looking for great DIY simple fall decor.

My house is functional. There is nothing House Beautiful about it. It serves us and my focus is always on practicality, and doing things together as much a possible.

But even with this down-to-earth philosophy, I still enjoy creating little oases of color and beauty.

Here, my cat is overseeing the supplies I have obtained. I’m waiting for the right time when some of the kids will be home to play.

Until then, here are some awful cute projects from the web.

I love the idea of covering a skull – paper mache or cheap plastic – with colorful tape! See this one at www.organized31.com.

Have you pulled up your garden for winter yet? Don’t just stash those tomato cages in the garage. Put them to work as tomato cage ghosts

Craft stores are jammed with fall possibilities. Grab a handful of silk/fake leaves and some Mod Podge and you can make these lovely fall leaf candle jars from www.kidsactivitiesblog.com. Confession time: we use these canning jars for our regular drinking glasses because they are so durable.

This tangled pumpkin is so fun, and durable! Get a couple sizes of balloons and make several. If you store them carefully, they can last years! This one is from www.icanteachmychild.com

I love tissue paper and how you can use the different colors for so many different seasons. Cutting the paper into small pieces and letting small fingers scrunch and glue is great fun – for kids of all ages! I like this tree and trunk from www.iheartcraftythings.com.
