DIY Easy Thanksgiving Banner

I have kind of exhausted many crafting choices.  I’m not good at them. I’ve tried knitting, crochet and sewing.  And I definitely can’t draw or paint. So when I see a project or craft that seems within my skill set, I get excited!  My skill set is pretty basic – cutting, gluing and the like.

So I’ve been seeing a lot of banners around and thought I would give it a shot. An easy DIY Thanksgiving Banner is a low-risk craft.   YOU CAN DO THIS!  Especially with these step-by-step instructions. Go for it!

Supplies needed:

Scrapbook paper

Alphabet stickers

Twine

Easy Banner Basics

Here are the items I grabbed from the craft store:

Scrapbook papers.  I chose silvers and golds.  You could also use papers you have around the house or even construction paper.

Sticker letters, like THESE

Some plain old twine, or you could use thick string.

Next, you need to make a template for the triangle.  You’ll use the template to cut the triangles out from the scrapbook papers.

So start with drawing a line.  Measuring carefully, place a dot at the exact center of the line.

Next you have to kind of eyeball how long you want the triangle.  Place your letter stickers near your paper to get an idea how long it should be.  Using your ruler, make another dot for the triangle bottom, directly below the first line and dot.

Using your ruler, connect the lower dot to the ends of the upper line.  Ta-da, you have made a perfect triangle!

Here is what the triangles with letters affixed look like:

What did you decide to spell out?  I chose GIVE THANKS.  I thought about choosing CHOOSE JOY because I love making that choice every day.  Or you could do HAPPY THANKSGIVING.  What sounds best to you?

Once you choose a phrase, count the number of letters and add 1 additional for a space between the words.

You can do this!  I’ll be rolling out a few other crafts for the un-crafty for Christmas.  Check back because you’re gonna love them!

What ideas do you have for the craft challenged?

Hi, I’m Christine

Have you been a wholehearted mother, but time, toddlers and teenagers have moved on? If you are wondering what comes next for you, you’ll feel right at home here.

Or, are you a mom for whom family life has been non-Pinworthy and parenting has been downright painful? I hear ya. There are many of us around.

Are you looking for a life full of exploration and adventure after the nest empties, but maybe you have no idea how to go about doing that? Stick around! We’ll explore adventures together to help you gain more clarity for your own path.

After a couple decades of writing books and articles about parenting, homeschooling and adoption, speaking to homeschoolers and other parent groups, and reaching out to the mom in the trenches who was trying to make the best of it - my kids grew up. Some grew up and grew away. I was determined to find a way out of the pain, emptiness and lack of direction.

For many of us, the journey starts with something we moms are not accustomed to. After years of caring for and serving others, sometimes we forget the beauty and wonder of US. We need to spend some time getting to know the parts of ourselves that have lain dormant, and take the time to explore interests and passions that we set aside.

I’d like to invite you to get the “What’s Next for Mom” workbook and jump into this growing tribe of Moms who are emptying the nest and filling the life! Let’s reignite your Mojo after Mothering!
