Do You Make Your Health A Priority? Here’s How You Can Start

August 29, 2019 By Christine Field

Our health is of the utmost importance to us. We toast our health when celebrating; we hope for good health when it comes to friends and family. But the thing is, we don’t tend to focus on our own health as much as we should. Life gets busy, especially when you are a parent. We have bills to pay, places to be, children to care for, a house to run. However, we need our health to carry on living our lives.

So with so many things taking up our time and thoughts, how can we make our health a priority and take better care of ourselves? It is time we placed a focus on our health and made simple changes and actions to help feel better. The healthier we are, the more we time and effort we can dedicate to our families. With that in ind, here are some of the ways that you can do it.

Increase your fitness levels

Fitness is important. When it comes to our health fitness has a lot to do with our respiratory system, our weight and overall feelings. So many of us don’t make it a priority. Thinking we can’t fit gym sessions into our busy lives. But this is where you are wrong. Improving your fitness levels is more abouteadin to the gym and taking on gruelling classes. You can simply make it your mission to be healthier and choose to be more active in your day. It means heading to the park or outdoors with your family. Walking somewhere instead of driving, making conscious decisions to be active each day. You could even look at taking up new hobbies like running or just make a goal to complete a certain amount of steps each day.

Don’t ignore those niggling problems

We’ve all been there. A headache that won’t go away. A back pain that keeps presenting itself. But these niggling issues are the ones we tend to brush over. We think we can carry on as if nothing’s happening. However, what we don’t realize is that these things can get worse and cause bigger problems. It might be time to consider seeking advice from your doctor for more common symptoms like headaches or niggling pains in your body. It may help improve your health in the long run and help you to be more active because of it.

Ensure You Have Excellent Insurance

Making your health a priority is easier when you have excellent insurance coverage. Health insurance gives you peace of mind, knowing that you and your loved ones will be taken care of financially if something happens. It also gives you access to quality healthcare, so you can get the treatment you need to stay healthy and happy. There are many different types of insurance that you can get for your family, such as regular health insurance, vision insurance, dental insurance, and many more. If you are not currently covered by health insurance, there are many options available to you. For example, you can get coverage through your employer’s group plan, or you can explore individual and family plans on the open market. There are also many government programs that provide health insurance assistance, so be sure to enquire about all the different options.

Take time to consider your mental health

If we choose to focus on one thing when it comes to our health, then our mental wellbeing should be right up there as first choice. Our mind is a powerful tool and our thoughts control how we feel and the actions that we take. Anxiety, stress, depression, these are all things that many of us struggle with, but don’t talk about or handle very well. It might be time to consider some of the ways you can alleviate these mental health symptoms. It might be therapy, where you talk through it. Perhaps vaping or herbal options where an eaze promo code could help, or it may even be other holistic remedies like aromatherapy or reiki that you try. Either way, making it a priority to feel better and more positive may help you in other aspects of your life.

Be aware of what is normal in your body

Many people have underlying health problems they are not aware of. Partly this can be because you ignore symptoms that are unusual. Unusual bleeding or continued bloating; they can all be signs of problems going inside that you just don’t know about. Make your health a priority by noticing things that just aren’t normal and get them checked. We can all be guilty of trying to ignore things because we are worried that they could be more serious than we would anticipate, but often in many cases, early detection is vital for a speedy recovery.

Improve your diet

Your health can have a lot to do with what you put into your body. An excessive amount of alcohol could lead to alcohol dependence. Too many fatty foods or sugary treats can increase your weight. Which could then cause added pressure to your body functions. It’s all about taking care of yourself more efficiently. A healthy balanced diet would always be recommended. Making sure you get the right intake of what your body needs to function. Our children also watch and take on our habits, so if you are normalizing a bad diet, then these are traits they may continue with in their adult life. Lead by example.

Let’s hope this helps you make your health a priority going forward.

Hi, I’m Christine

Have you been a wholehearted mother, but time, toddlers and teenagers have moved on? If you are wondering what comes next for you, you’ll feel right at home here.

Or, are you a mom for whom family life has been non-Pinworthy and parenting has been downright painful? I hear ya. There are many of us around.

Are you looking for a life full of exploration and adventure after the nest empties, but maybe you have no idea how to go about doing that? Stick around! We’ll explore adventures together to help you gain more clarity for your own path.

After a couple decades of writing books and articles about parenting, homeschooling and adoption, speaking to homeschoolers and other parent groups, and reaching out to the mom in the trenches who was trying to make the best of it - my kids grew up. Some grew up and grew away. I was determined to find a way out of the pain, emptiness and lack of direction.

For many of us, the journey starts with something we moms are not accustomed to. After years of caring for and serving others, sometimes we forget the beauty and wonder of US. We need to spend some time getting to know the parts of ourselves that have lain dormant, and take the time to explore interests and passions that we set aside.

I’d like to invite you to get the “What’s Next for Mom” workbook and jump into this growing tribe of Moms who are emptying the nest and filling the life! Let’s reignite your Mojo after Mothering!
