Because I don’t live a Pin-worthy life, my house is simple, getting older, and well — needing some love. It is enough of a challenge for me to merely keep it clean. Getting organized and applying some fresh paint is a big deal for me. I have summoned all my bravery and begun.
An old friend and mentor told me when I was younger, “Paint the closets when you move in because you’ll never get around to it.” I started with the pantry (which used to be a closet in a prior version of this house) and quickly realized how much easier it would have been to paint BEFORE all those items found the shelves. It was a great way to force me to throw away salad dressings from 2004.
After I painted it, I looked around online for some nice shelf labels and found a few. I can’t blame the kids for the pantry disorganization. It’s all my doing. I’m the kind of person who comes home from the grocery store and stashes items on any empty shelf. It’s empty, isn’t it?
With the labels, I am hoping to train myself to put soup with soup, pasta with pasta.
I forgot to photograph the before but I’m pretty pleased with the after.
Here is Foofie the DIY cat who needs to be in on all exciting household activity. She will surely get some white paint on her.
Next – the dreaded, dated cabinets!
