How much have you learned from doing small things for others? For me, plenty.
When I first became a mom, I bristled at the idea of doing the million mundane things of motherhood. I felt resentment as I picked up the Cheerios under the table and wiped up yet another mess.
But I learned so much in those days of small things.
I learned to be kind and gracious in doing something for the umpteenth time. Kids need patience. We can do things for them with a crappy attitude, but what does that teach them about love? When we do the small things with great love, it is then that they know they are loved.
I learned to take delight in making others happy, in bringing them a slice of joy. My kids were never into the grand gestures, like the big family trip to Disneyland (never been…), but they took delight is small things and small gestures.
My daughter Grace and I had some fun with a small thing the other day. Giovanni sent me his new creation – a silicone baking mold in the shape of a cat.
Here is what they might look like if decorated with a scintilla of talent. See the light brown and dark brown here?
Well, this is how mine turned out, but it doesn’t matter. We had fun making them. My brother-in-law Vince even ate one!
This is my daughter, Grace. She is finishing her culinary degree in baking and pastry and we both laughed pretty hard at how they turned out but be made a memory!
If you’re a cat lover, like we are, check out these Charlie Cat molds and have some fun!
In another day of small things, how about this idea.
My brother, brother-in-law, husband and I are pretty big punners. Yes, it’s the lowest form of humor, and we are quite good at it.
Julissa from Shari’s Berries sent me these adorable cards.
