Clever Ways To Cut Costs Around The House

Whether we like it or not, money makes the work go around. Although it doesn’t necessarily bring happiness, it does allow you to feed and clothe yourself and your children. It also means that you can pay for birthdays, Christmases, days out, and other treats. Living paycheck to paycheck is a risky decision, as, at any moment, something could go wrong, leaving you with an unexpected cost that you just can’t afford. This is why it’s important that you take care of your finances. With that in mind, here are ten clever ways to cut costs at home and make your money go further.

  1. Shop For Groceries Midweek

The most popular day by far to go grocery shopping is on a Saturday. The reason for this is that most people don’t work at the weekend. The stores are also open a lot longer on Saturdays than they typically are on Sundays. Because businesses know that Saturday is going to be busy, they don’t release their newest discounts on that day. If you want to reduce the cost of your grocery shopping, then you should head to the store midweek when the promotions usually begin.

  1. Grow Your Own Vegetables

Those that eat meat know how tasty it can be. However, that amazing flavor doesn’t make it good for you. When compared with a plant-based diet, one containing meat is incredibly unhealthy, putting you at a greater risk of developing all sorts of illnesses. Meat is also more expensive than vegetables, and, as such, increases your grocery bills as it does your medical ones. Growing your own veg is easy and can save you the cost of driving to the store.

  1. Kick Those Bad Habits

We all have habits that we’re not too proud of. Perhaps you smoke cigarettes, drink one too many glasses of wine at the weekend, or binge on unhealthy foods. Whatever the vice, it can make life more costly. This is because the habits themselves are expensive and also have pricey consequences. Kicking these habits won’t be easy, but it is more than worth it. There is plenty of professional advice and support out there to guide you through the process.

  1. Tackle Any Existing Debts

The more debt you have, the more bills you have to pay each month. This is why it makes sense to clear your debt as soon as possible. One way to go about this is by taking out another loan. The £5,000 secured loans from Evolution Money would allow you to pay off any debt up to the cost of £5,000. This means that you’d only have to pay one load of interest, rather than several. If you’d rather clear the debts with your own money, then cutting other costs will definitely help.

  1. Work A Different Job

The commute many of us take to work each morning is both stressful and expensive, especially when you have to travel quite a distance. It means that you have to pay hundreds, if not thousands each year running your car or taking public transport. To eliminate this cost, you should change your job. Rather than travel to get to work, you could try working from home. This decision means that you’d save money on work clothes, food, and childcare too.

Hi, I’m Christine

Have you been a wholehearted mother, but time, toddlers and teenagers have moved on? If you are wondering what comes next for you, you’ll feel right at home here.

Or, are you a mom for whom family life has been non-Pinworthy and parenting has been downright painful? I hear ya. There are many of us around.

Are you looking for a life full of exploration and adventure after the nest empties, but maybe you have no idea how to go about doing that? Stick around! We’ll explore adventures together to help you gain more clarity for your own path.

After a couple decades of writing books and articles about parenting, homeschooling and adoption, speaking to homeschoolers and other parent groups, and reaching out to the mom in the trenches who was trying to make the best of it - my kids grew up. Some grew up and grew away. I was determined to find a way out of the pain, emptiness and lack of direction.

For many of us, the journey starts with something we moms are not accustomed to. After years of caring for and serving others, sometimes we forget the beauty and wonder of US. We need to spend some time getting to know the parts of ourselves that have lain dormant, and take the time to explore interests and passions that we set aside.

I’d like to invite you to get the “What’s Next for Mom” workbook and jump into this growing tribe of Moms who are emptying the nest and filling the life! Let’s reignite your Mojo after Mothering!
