6 Reasons Why Women Need To Be Strength Training

Many people are wrongly under the assumption that women shouldn’t be weight trained, and doing so leads to a more masculine figure. However, this could not be further from the truth. Strength training for women can be massively beneficial and an essential part of their exercise routine.

Although cardiovascular exercise is beneficial for boosting your heart health and overall stamina, strength training will help you look better in the long run. You’ll notice that your muscle tone has tightened, and you’ll appear sleek and slim as well. The ability to see a little muscle definition under your skin is always welcome, even if you don’t want to appear ripped or chiseled.

More Effective Than Cardio

Many people believe that slugging it out on a cardio machine or pounding the pavement is the key to fat loss. However, cardio exercises such as jogging or cycling stress your muscles (which can lead to injuries) and do not help you gain muscle. Furthermore, unlike with cardio, there are virtually endless exercises you can perform with weight training, so you’ll never get tired of it.

Improves Your Overall Fitness

Do you want to go faster or farther on your run? Lifting weights is a good idea. As you use your muscles, they will become more robust, and you will gain talents that you didn’t realize you required during your cardio workout. Have you reached a stalemate in your aerobic workouts? Strength training can assist you in achieving your goals. Lifting weights regularly will also make you feel stronger and more capable. Lifting weights regularly can help you maintain or enhance your bone density while battling osteoporosis. Women who strength train report less joint pain, bone loss, and lower back pain than non-strength-training women. This can be especially useful for women approaching menopause to support bone health when levels of calcium drop.

Decreases Anxiety

The majority of people who exercise report that it has a positive effect on their mood. In reality, multiple studies have demonstrated the positive impact of cardiac exercise on mood, mental sharpness, and even overall life satisfaction. Strength training has also been shown to reduce anxiety levels in some individuals. If going to the gym is something you hate, just remember how much better you’ll feel once you’ve completed your exercise regimen.

Improved Athleticism

Everyone wants to seem toned and sculpted, and weight training is the most effective technique to do this. However, it will also help you develop your ability in other sports as well. Strength training requires you to work on your posture and engage your core to perfect the correct technique and lift without hurting yourself. A well-defined and stable body can support your abilities in other athletic endeavors meaning you are well supported and reduce the risk of injury due to incorrect technique, poor posture, and unstable core.
