If you are looking at the prospect of stepping onto the property ladder or moving home, it is a very exciting time. However, there is an undeniable pressure to get it right from a financial perspective. The property will simultaneously become your largest financial asset and biggest overhead. So, you cannot overlook its importance in your overall situation.

Besides, getting the best value for money will enhance your relationship with the home. Here are five top tips that can lead you to success.

Get The Best Sale Price

If you are looking to move out of a property you currently own, a strong sale will give you the best foundation to build upon. This guide to selling your home will give you the best chance of a quick sale at the best price. When it comes to repairs and refurbs, opt for cost-effective solutions without too much personalization. This will allow you to attract a wider pool of potential buyers, thus making it easier to get the full valuation.

Crucially, you should start preparing for the sale at the earliest stage. Otherwise, you may take a worse offer simply to finance your next step.

Know Your Eligibility For Support

When buying a property, it’s likely that you will need a mortgage or home loan. Getting the best product can save you tens of thousands of dollars over the lifetime of the mortgage. As a military person or family member, a VA home loan can unlock better interest rates. Moreover, it removes the need for a large down payment, which could open the door to opportunities that would not have been possible.

Government schemes may also be offered depending on your circumstances. The sooner you research the options, the more likely you’ll be to get the best result.

Consider Location

Purchasing a property isn’t just about the building. You are investing in a new way of life, which is why the location of the home is a key feature. However, the truth is that living in one neighborhood may allow you to get far more for your money. Of course, you need to strike the right balance to avoid bad places. Researching neighborhoods for safety, commuting, schooling, and noise should be a priority. It’ll help you make a calculated choice.

When you find the right location, you will be destined for a far happier lifestyle. Saving money here leaves you with more for home improvements.

Look For ROI Opportunities

Finding the right location is one thing, but finding the perfect property is another. Buying a home that requires lots of structural updates may be ill advised unless you’re an expert. Still, properties that need modernizing can be great investments. It may simply be a case that the previous owner was a senior citizen or that the house was not occupied for a few years. Either way, your future upgrades could seriously improve the value.

You would have spent money stamping your authority on the home anyway. Properties that have room for garden buildings or upwards extensions could also work well.

Negotiate

Finally, you should have no concerns about the prospect of negotiating. The worst that can happen is the seller sticks firm on their figures. It could potentially save you thousands of dollars, thus covering hidden fees like legal costs.

Hi! I’m Christine!

It’s Never Too Late to Rewrite Your Story

If you’re standing at a crossroads—wondering where the “you” you used to know went—you are not alone.

Maybe you spent years pouring yourself into your family, homeschooling, raising kids with big needs and even bigger hearts.
Maybe you’re navigating a broken marriage, facing an empty nest that feels a lot emptier than you ever imagined, or grieving distance from your adult children.

You may be asking yourself: What happened to the life I dreamed of?
What happens now?

Here’s the truth:
It’s never too late to rewrite your story.

No matter the detours or disappointments, there is still hope.
There are still beautiful chapters ahead, waiting for you to write them.

What You’ll Find Here

Real Mom Life is a place where you’ll find:

  • A reminder that your story isn’t over—and the next part might just be the best yet

My Story

Hi, I’m Christine—a marriage and motherhood survivor, a recovering perfectionist, and a woman determined to live the second half of life with purpose, passion, and a whole lot of pizzazz.

I spent decades doing what many women do: pouring myself into my family, raising children (some with big needs and even bigger hearts), homeschooling, navigating a long and complicated marriage, and trying to be everything for everyone. Somewhere in all of that, I lost parts of myself I didn’t even realize were gone.

During those intense years of deep mothering, I also wrote seven books for major Christian publishers about parenting, adoption, and homeschooling. I spoke at conferences, encouraged other moms, and tried to offer wisdom from the trenches.

And then—everything I held dear was challenged.

My kids started struggling in ways I couldn’t fix.
My marriage unraveled.
And so did the life I had so carefully built.

Divorce, the empty nest, the ache of adult children who didn’t launch quite the way I’d hoped—it all collided at once.

Sound familiar?

But here’s the good news:
It’s never too late to rewrite your story.

Now in my late 60s, I’m building a rich, meaningful life—not despite the hard chapters, but because of them.
I started dating again (and got married in May 2025!), I’m working full-time in my career as a criminal lawyer, and I’m dreaming bigger than ever.
I’m a woman of faith who’s walked through the fire—and found new life on the other side.

Let’s Walk This Road Together

If you’re wondering what’s next after the life you planned didn’t turn out the way you hoped, you’re in the right place.
We don’t have to shrink or settle.
We get to rise, reclaim, and sparkle.

So pour a cup of coffee (or something stronger), and let’s keep going, together.
